The Adirondack Mountain Club is dedicated to the conservation, preservation, and responsible recreational use of the New York State Forest Preserve and other parks, wild lands, and waters vital to our members and chapters.

Club Structure

The organization is structured as a parent club — represented online at ADK.org — and local chapters in 27 areas of New York State. While you can join the Adirondack Mountain Club as an at-large member, almost all of the club’s members choose to join through one of the local chapters.

Our Chapter

The Genesee Valley Chapter of ADK has members in almost 1300 households in the western New York area centered on Rochester. We connect people who are dedicated to the ADK mission, enjoy sharing the outdoors experience with similar-minded folks, and look for opportunities to further the cause of the natural environment.

Besides our hiking, paddling and other outdoors events, we have lively monthly meetings each year, starting in September and continuing to June. Each meeting features a workshop where skills are shared, and a presentation. Those presentations run the gamut from outdoor adventures pretty much anywhere in the world that our members happen to wander to, to the history of mountaineering campaigns in the Himalaya, to climate change and to some of the personalities of the Adirondacks. See what’s coming up here. You can see videos of past meetings here.

Come Join Us!

We are a 501(c)3 organization. Our Executive Committee meets monthly, and you’re welcome to attend. The many outings we lead — hikes, paddles, weekend trips, and more — are all open to club members and non-members alike. Choose one, introduce yourself, and get to know us!
