Without volunteers, our club chapter would cease to exist. For over 50 years our members have led outings, published our newsletter, run the Expo, organized our monthly meeting programs, advocated for wilderness and conservation, cleared trails, worked on various committees, and done everything else to make the wheels turn.
Some of the many opportunities to get involved with our organization are detailed below, and every event that needs volunteers is listed in the calendar below!
But it’s not all work, work, work! Volunteers are a lively, interesting group of folks. Get to meet them while you give back to the GVC community. In addition, we host a picnic for all volunteers in October. It’s a great way to meet a great bunch of people! Check the calendar below for details.
Outdoor Expo
The annual ADK Outdoor Expo is our biggest event of the year. We look for members to volunteer their time at the event in many ways. We need people to help at the registration table, first aid table, workshops and the waterways events on the beach. And that’s just the start. Please contact expovolunteers@adk-gvc.org to get involved.
GVC Ambassadors
We’re looking for folks that are willing to share their ADK experiences with others. Help us get the word out! We often set up a display and talk about ADK at schools, health fairs, malls, expos and other events. We’re asking anyone who would be interested in promoting ADK-GVC to join in the fun. NO COMMITMENT IS REQUIRED… when we get an invitation we’ll send it to the GVC Ambassadors email list. If it’s a time you are free and willing to attend, just let us know!

Finger Lakes Trail
Our chapter maintains a 6-mile stretch of the 580-mile Finger Lakes Trail. In April, June and October our hardy trail crew brings loppers and shovels and other such stuff to the vicinity of North Hornell and enjoys a fine day working on the trail. There’s even a camping opportunity! Contact FLT-steward@adk-gvc.org to get involved.
